Setting the Stage: Primary Health Care in French in Ontatrio

Setting the Stage is a national project with the objective of improving access to primary health care in French for Francophones living in a minority situation. In Ontario, four French language health networks received the mandate to conduct this project.

The four networks worked together to ensure that the plans they develop are complementary and integrated. To coordinate their efforts, the four networks developed a common approach that allows each one to bring into focus the specific realities of its own region. There exists one provincial report and four regional reports. On this site, you will find the provincial report, as well as the Réseau francopone de santé du Nord de l’Ontario’s regional report. All reports are available in French and English.

Setting the Stage - Provincial
The Provincial Report of Setting the Stage provides an overview of primary health care for Ontario’s Francophone population and also outlines trends common to all parts of Ontario. It proposes a basis for the renewal of French language services across the province.

Setting the Stage - Regional
The Regional Report complements the Provincial Report by proposing a more detailed regional approach for the territory covered by the Réseau francophone de santé du Nord de l’Ontario (Francophone health network for Northern Ontario). The report attempts to give an accurate indication of the needs of Francophone minority communities in Northern Ontario. Regional recommendations are also included in this report.
