A Strong Delegation from the North at the 7th Rendez-vous Santé en français 2017

Sudbury – December 8, 2017 Accompanied by a delegation of 24 Francophone leaders from Northern Ontario, the Réseau took part in the 7th Rendez-vous Santé en français 2017 in Ottawa in November. The Rendez-vous Santé en français is the largest multidisciplinary gathering in Canada on French-language health care. It brings together over 350 stakeholders and decision makers from across the country, all of whom are concerned about and committed to the health of Francophone and Acadian minority communities.

Some members of the team from the Réseau were invited to present at various workshops during the conference: Diane Quintas on active offer, Elsa St-Onge on the Carrefour santé as a model for community engagement; Chantal Bohémier and Angèle Brunelle, Executive Director l’Accueil francophone de Thunder Bay on interpretation services in a minority setting.

(Note: Other delegates from the North also attended the conference.)

In addition to the activities of the conference, the Société Santé en français (SSF) held their 15th General Annual Meeting. For Fabien Hébert, Board member of the Réseau, mandated to represent us at the national table of the SSF Board, this meant he had reached the end of his term. He was a recognized leader, as the representative from Northern Ontario. He played a key role at the national level to ensure the promotion and the ongoing development of health services in French. “On behalf of the Réseau, I would like to thank Fabien for his numerous years as a volunteer board member of the SSF and for his ongoing dedication and commitment towards the Francophonie,” declared Collin Bourgeois, Board Chair.

Collin Bourgeois, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Réseau was nominated to represent the Réseau on the Board of the SSF.

The Société Santé en français is a national leader, working in close collaboration with the réseaux Santé en français from each province, territory to ensure better access to quality programmes and services in French that aim to enhance the well-being of the Francophone and Acadian communities living in a minority situation.

The Réseau, in collaboration with its partners, plans, networks and engages with communities to improve access and equity to French language health services.
