Election of a New Board Chair

Sudbury – June 9, 2017  At their first Board meeting following the 7th Annual General Meeting held on June 5, 2017, the Board of Directors of the Réseau du mieux-être francophone du Nord de l’Ontario (Réseau) proceeded with elections for the positions of Board Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

The Réseau is pleased to announce the election of Collin Bourgeois as Board Chair, Fabien Hébert as Vice-Chair, Kim Morris as Secretary and Angèle Brunelle as Treasurer.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your vote of confidence. I believe we can work together to support the Réseau, Francophone communities and patients looking at receiving health services in French. I am honoured to take this new challenge. I would also like to thank my predecessor Kim Morris, ” declared the new Board Chair, Collin Bourgeois.

Collin has been with the Board of Directors of the Réseau since 2015.  He is the owner and operator of the Théorêt Bourgeois Funeral Homes in Sturgeon Falls, Verner and Warren. Over the years, Collin has been a member of several boards and committees. Mr. Bourgeois was a member of the Provincial Leadership Council of Ontario Hospital Association for French Language Services; Board Chair of the West Nipissing General Hospital; President of the Club Richelieu of Sturgeon Falls and Board Chair of the Richelieu International; Board Chair and founding member of the West Nipissing Community Health Centre, as well as Board Chair of the Réseau de développement économique et d’employabilité de l’Ontario (RDÉE Ontario).

Collin has received several recognitions and awards: Honorary Diploma in Health from Collège Boréal (2014); Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012); Merit Award leadership coopératif 2005, Conseil de la coopération de l’Ontario; Merit Award for Francophonie 2005, Richelieu International; John Grasby Award for Volunteer of the Year, Centraide/United Way (2005); Grégoire Pagé Award, Richelieu International (2004).

“Collin Bourgeois’ s experience and qualifications will truly be an asset in his new role as Board Chair. After several years as Co-Chair and Chair of the Board, the time has come for me to pass on the torch, confident that the Réseau will succeed in its new endeavours,” shared Kim Morris.

The Réseau would like to thank Ms. Kim Morris for her time as Board Chair and her commitment to French language health services. The board welcomes her continued support in her new role as secretary.

The Réseau would also like to thank Ms. Sylvianne Mauro, for her time and commitment to the board over the past 6 years and for her continued contribution and dedication towards the Francophonie in Northern Ontario. We wish her well in all her future endeavours.
